Voxline is a Windows desktop app, not a web service. There is no Voxline account, and the app talks directly to Spotify, LRClib, and Genius on your behalf. It does use one small relay of ours, voxline.xyz, for two narrow things described below: the shared-connection sign-in, and a basic integrity check. This page explains what the app touches and where it goes.
What Voxline accesses
- Spotify: read-only access to what's currently playing and playback position (
user-read-currently-playing,user-read-playback-state). Voxline cannot see your library, playlists, contacts, or control playback. - LRClib: the artist and track name of whatever's playing, sent to LRClib's public API to fetch time-synced lyrics. No account or login involved.
- Genius (optional fallback): the same artist/track info, sent to Genius's public search API and a public song page, only if LRClib has no match.
What stays on your machine
Your Spotify login session, app settings (colors, position, timing offset), and a cached authorization token are all stored in plain files next to the app on your own computer. None of it is uploaded anywhere, backed up, or visible to anyone but you.
Shared app credentials
By default, Voxline uses a Spotify app registration shared across a small number of users so most people don't have to register their own. This only affects which app identity Spotify sees your login request come from, it does not give the developer access to your account, your data, or your Spotify session. You always log in with your own Spotify account and can revoke access anytime from your Spotify account settings.
Signing in with the shared connection briefly lands your browser on voxline.xyz/callback instead of a localhost address, so the address bar shows something normal. That page hands the login back to the app and doesn't keep anything.
Integrity check
On launch, Voxline compares its own installed file against the official release build, and separately notices if a debugger attaches to it while it's running. If either looks off, it reports that bare fact, nothing else, no personal data, no usage data, to the developer, so tampering with the shared Spotify/Genius credentials can be caught. This doesn't run for anything else and sends nothing in normal use.
Third-party terms
Your use of Spotify, LRClib, and Genius through Voxline is subject to each of their own terms and privacy policies, not this one. Voxline is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them.
Children
Voxline is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, since it collects nothing at all.
Changes
If this policy changes, the update will be posted here with a new date at the top.
